The RosAccreditation (authorized executive agency controlling Russian Certification bodies & labs) has announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Automatic Identification Association UNISCAN/GS1 RUS.The document establishes the rules and forms of interaction on product identification, based on the principles of global uniqueness of GS1 system codes.
What is the GS1 system?
GS1 is the most widely used supply chain standards system in the world. The GS1 GTIN code is used to distinguish between traded items on the market. It has an international status and can be shown as barcode symbols. Each item on the market receives a unique GS1 GTIN code.
How will it work?
RosAccreditation will send information about declarations and certificates to the GS1 RUS and in return it receives the full access to barcodes data’s.
It is planned that information about conformity documents will be obtained by scanning the barcode with a smartphone. Every customer will be able to find out information about certificates and declarations from barcodes on goods they buy.
This cooperation is supported by the new rules on registering documents on conformity assessment (upload the whole list of GTIN & GLN numbers), where the GTIN code should be entered, if the products are made outside the EEU.
What digital transformation have been already done?
In 2020, in order to get exchange of information, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Tax Service of Russia signed the collaboration agreement about the Electronic Communications System.
- RosAсcreditation signed the agreement of datas exchange with the National Labelling System. Thanks to this, it is expected, by the end of the first quarter of 2021, all goods included in the National Labelling System (Chestniy Znak) will have documents confirming their safety.
- RosAсcreditation signed the memorandum of datas exchange with National Federal Customs Service. In case illegal products cross the border, the information will be immediately shared with all members of EEU.
Why it’s important?
RosAccreditation always aims to ensure credibility in the performance of Certification Bodies and Laboratories, as well as to provide consumers with information on the safety of goods. The development of digital technologies helps to achieve it.
It is also essential for prevention of illegal circulation of products, including the production and sale of falsified products.
RosAccreditation aims to provide users with up-to-date and reliable information about goods, including a unique identifier, basic characteristics and information about certificates of conformity and declarations of conformity related to this product.
