Since 2019, the Federal Accreditation Service of Russia (Rosakkreditatsiya) has taken a course to eliminate from the market those false players who issue Certificates and Declarations without accreditation and audits or simply do not conduct full checks in the business community. The authorities do not hide the fact, that before there were many “black” companies and the consumer could not be sure of the quality of the products.
Many companies have been accredited according to the old rules. Dated 2014, there were around 8.5 thousand of accredited Laboratories and about 1.5 thousand of Certification Bodies in Russia. And only about 500 of Certification Bodies were actually working.
The Federal Law on Accreditation (Certification Bodies) came into force on September, 2019 and required all bodies and laboratories to pass the confirmation of competence by March 1, 2020. The Russian certification market underwent a total control to eliminate “black” companies. After a general control, the number of Certification Bodies is supposed to drastically decrease.
A key trend of the Federal Accreditation Service of Russia was and stays the tightening of control over the issuance of documents on compliance by regulatory authorities. The main purpose is to increase the confidence of consumers and business owners in the accredited bodies.
The country seeks to legalize the market. It is a complex and time-consuming process. Positive results are already in place. But there is still a huge amount of work to be done, which is aimed to a fair market.
